Terms of service.
These terms govern your use of Canopy's deposit, routing and settlement service. The part that most often costs people money is section 2 — send only the token and network shown to you.

1. What Canopy does
Canopy is a deposit, routing and settlement service. A business integrates Canopy and creates a payment intent for one of its users. That user is shown a deposit address unique to them, funds it with a supported token on a supported network, and Canopy detects the transfer, deducts its platform fee, and routes the net amount to the destination the payment intent names.
Which tokens and networks are supported is set by Canopy and is shown to you in the product at the time you pay; it is not fixed by these terms and may change. Delivery can involve a bridge or a conversion, so the token that arrives at the destination is not necessarily the token you sent.
Canopy is infrastructure for moving funds to a destination that has already been named. It is not a bank, a broker, an exchange, an investment service, or a custodian of a balance you can withdraw on demand.
2. Send only the token and network shown to you
Every deposit address is shown to you together with exactly one token and exactly one network. You must send that token, on that network, and nothing else.
A deposit address is a blockchain address. It cannot refuse a transfer, and Canopy cannot reverse one. If you send a different token, send on a different network, or send to an address you copied from somewhere else, the transfer will not be detected, will not be credited, and may be permanently unrecoverable. The same is true of any token Canopy does not support on that network, including a token that shares a name or ticker with one that is supported.
Recovery of an incompatible or misdirected transfer is not a service Canopy offers, and is frequently impossible for anyone, including us. Where recovery happens to be technically possible, Canopy is under no obligation to attempt it, may decline to attempt it, and may charge the cost of any attempt. Nothing here creates an expectation that funds sent incorrectly can be returned.
3. Blockchain transactions are final
Transfers on a blockchain settle irreversibly, with no chargeback, recall or dispute mechanism. You are responsible for the address you send to, the amount you send, the token you send, and the network you send on. Verify all four before you confirm a transfer.
Canopy does not control the networks it reads from or writes to. Congestion, chain reorganisations, outages, validator behaviour, bridge failures, token contract changes and third-party provider incidents can delay or prevent detection, routing or settlement of a deposit, and are outside our control.
4. Minimums, fees and net settlement
Each network and token has a minimum deposit amount, shown to you before you send. A deposit below that minimum may be held until further deposits on the same network bring the combined total above it, and will not settle until then.
Canopy deducts a platform fee from each deposit. The fee and the destination are resolved by Canopy from its own configuration and are never supplied by the request that triggers a payment. The amount that reaches the destination is the deposit less Canopy's fee and any network or bridge costs incurred in delivering it.
5. Your responsibilities
You must be legally permitted to use this service and to send the funds you send. You must not use Canopy for unlawful activity, to evade sanctions, or to move funds you are not entitled to move. Canopy may refuse, delay or block the handling of any deposit where it is required to by law, or where it reasonably suspects fraud, sanctions exposure or abuse.
You are responsible for the security of your own wallet, keys and devices. Canopy never has custody of them and cannot restore access to them.
6. No warranty
The service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. Canopy does not warrant that a deposit will be detected, routed or settled within any particular time, or that any network it depends on will be available.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Canopy is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Canopy is not liable for loss of funds resulting from: a transfer of an unsupported token; a transfer on an unsupported network; a transfer to an address other than the one shown to you; an error in an address, amount, token or network that you entered or confirmed; the compromise of your wallet, keys or devices; or the failure, delay or misbehaviour of any blockchain, bridge, node provider or other third party.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, Canopy's total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the platform fees Canopy actually received from the deposits giving rise to the claim.
8. Changes to these terms
Canopy may change these terms. The version published on this page when you use the service is the version that applies. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the changed terms.
9. Contact
Questions about a specific deposit should go to the business you are paying in the first instance. Questions about these terms can be raised through the support channel shown in the product.
